The original ‘roof in a box'

Designed for use at just 2 ½ degrees, Ultralite 500 can be used on almost any property – even bungalows and awkward-shaped dwellings – plus it has a wide range of benefits for you and your customers which give it a significant advantage and enhance its performance:

A ‘roof in a box' solution  –  simply pick up off the shelf at your local stockist

•  Free-spanning, with integral aluminium strengthening bars – perfect for homes or large commercial properties

•  Built-in sun diffusion, plus excellent light transmission properties

•  Unique controllable ventilation system

•  Clean, uninterrupted lines - ideal for a contemporary Mediterranean-style conservatory

•  Packaged in colour coded boxes, in installation order, for fitter-friendliness.

Reinforced Starter Bar

New reinforcement in the starter bar to ensure that three anchor bolts are drilled into the host wall where the eaves beam is most vulnerable to pulling away

New 'Ridge Compression Plate'

New “Ridge Compression Plate” that sits at the end of the aluminium ridge body where it joins the house wall – this distributes compression forces across the host wall and allows installers to assemble and suspend the starter bars, prior to attaching the main ridge body

Additional Cleat in Eaves Beam

An additional cleat in the eaves beam, on 90-degree corners. This is backed up by two additional retention bolts where the hip bar sits on to the slotted ridge end

Images of conservatories

The combination of these features ensures an interior climate that is cool in summer and warm in winter – the perfect conservatory!
Not only this, but for your peace of mind Ultralite 500 comes with:

•  ‘Life expectancy of at least 25 years' – BBA-certified

•  Fire safety ratings after stringent tests

•  10-year manufacturer's warranty  (white only)

Accreditations

Ultralite 500 has been put through extensive accelerated weathering tests to simulate the worst of British weathering conditions. The tests were the equivalent of a 10 year ‘live' period on the roof and have given Ultraframe the confidence to offer a 10 year warranty (on white) in addition to the BBA's assessment of at least 25 years life expectancy

Firrings

Firrings aid ease of installation

Firrings are available for the recommended minimum pitch of 2½º in 3m and 4m lengths in mahogany or white. By specifying firrings you can prevent the unnecessary additional cost of awkward to manufacture raked frames and save time and money on site.

Firrings diagram

The Ultralite 500 roof was launched by Ultraframe in 1993 to answer the need for a roofing system that could be fitted to awkward shaped properties with low roofs and awkward pitches.

The following options can be specified when fitting an Ultralite 500 roof to such a property:

Fascia fixing kit

A fascia fixing kit is specified when there is inadequate head room under the soffitt – even at the incredibly low pitch of 2½° that is the minimum for Ultralite 500. An aluminium extrusion fixes the Ultralite 500 wallplate top capping at the fascia position, as shown in the diagrams.

Box gutter solutions

A box gutter solution may be used as an alternative to the fascia fixing kit when an Ultralite 500 roof is higher than the slated/tiled bungalow roof to which it is attached.

Structural Stability

Ultralite 500 gains its amazing strength and stability from structural grade aluminium profiles that were specified by Ultraframe to produce a roof that is suitable for use on small domestic conservatories, right through to large span commercial portals.

This diagram shows the profiles that give the roof its amazing strength.

Top caps couldn't be easier to attach – they simply snap on and are kept securely in place by integrated ‘fir tree' barb arrangements.

Ventilation

Ultraframe realises that conservatory ventilation is extremely important and so we incorporated excellent levels of ventilation into the Ultralite 500 roof. By doing so it allows for a comfortable interior environment all year round.
Three different ventilation features help to achieve this:

Hit and miss trickle ventilation

A constant cycle of air is essential within any conservatory to limit heat build up and minimise condensation.
A ventilated wallplate with hit and miss trickle ventilation is included as standard on the Ultralite 500 roofing system – a feature unique to Ultraframe roofs.

Hit and miss ventilation works by providing ventilation along the complete length of the wall channel and can easily be controlled by the homeowner.

Ridgeflow

Another feature unique to Ultraframe roofs, Ridgeflow is a thermostatically controlled feature which permits secure automatic ventilation at any time. Ridgeflow is ideal as it works when the conservatory owner is at work – eliminating the need for windows or roof vents to be left open, which compromises security.
This unique feature can be specified as an option on Ultralite 500 roofs and is fast and easy to install. A ventilated top capping facilitates the enhanced ventilation, which allows up to 4 air changes per hour in an average sized conservatory.

Roof vents

Roof vents provide a fast and effective way for homeowners to ventilate their conservatory and work alongside the standard ventilated wall channel.

The following options are available on the Ultralite 500 roofing system, all of which are fitter-friendly:

•  MAXI roof vent – 500mm width

•  OPTI roof vent – 1000mm width

•  Roof vents can be operated electronically or with a brass finish pole and mechanism on the roof vent.
